The most ridiculous thing I've ever read...

"Daily dose: FDA sets limit for chemical in baby formula"

WHAT?? Hmm... thanks, for setting a limit. As if ANY amount of chemicals are "ok" for baby formula?? Why are there any kinds of chemicals in baby formula? I don't even (and NEVER will) feed my child formula, but geez. Chemicals, in baby formula...and it gets better...

"
Earlier this week, members of Congress and the Illinois attorney general demanded a national recall, something FDA said made no sense because it had no evidence suggesting that the formula would be dangerous for babies at the levels of contamination found.

After saying it made an error in its data, the FDA on Wednesday produced these results: Mead Johnson's Infant Formula Powder, Enfamil LIPIL with Iron found melamine at levels of 0.137 and 0.14 parts per million. Three tests of Nestle's Good Start Supreme Infant Formula with Iron detected an average of 0.247 parts per million of cyanuric acid."

The numbers aren't huge, especially in comparison to the recall in China, but why is it even in there at all? Melamine by the way is used in some food packaging, and can rub off into food from there. It's also part of a cleaning solution used on some food processing equipment. Would it be to hard to get rid of it all together? Apparently it's asking too much. Which leads me into another article I read on OCRegister.com today...

Breast feeding can save up to $3,100 a year

Now there's something worth reading! Like I needed another reason to breastfeed...
LOL Here's a cool page on kellymom.com
http://www.kellymom.com/bf/start/prepare/bfcostbenefits.html#table1

Depending on the cost of formula, a newborn baby can go through anywhere from $43.86 to $194.22 in formula in the first month. By six months, the cost for formula can add up to be $375.34 to $1,662.22. Over one year, a family could save anywhere between $714.42 to $3,163.86 by feeding a child breast milk rather than incurring the cost of formula.

Yikes, all I needed to breastfeed was nursing bras, and nursing pads... which are reusable... Hmmm... Maybe like 100.00 total, for 2 years of nursing. Not to mention the time you save, no bottle washing, water and formula measuring. Yikes! Thank goodness for boobie milk! Not to mention there aren't any chemicals added to my milk, in any amount :)
